went to CERN when I was in geneva on dec 31 2009. The chance of it being open on new years eve, despite lack of any information otherwise on the website, was small... But could not have lived without trying.

yet VR still has it's place -

for instance when you see a 360 degree immersive 3d panorama far more intense than any mobile device could ever render

we saw sydney's i-cinema project populated with dutch & world history accidentally while wandering around near museumplein in Amsterdam

my new new music robot

to make up for lack of tuesday jazz

i took a bit of time out to write a script to pull down new music from music websites, so i can listen to things while on the train & find new stuff w/o having to flip through the interwebs in a browser

anyway, it seems i'm a bit rusty in python... not done much since last fall, really.

as such, it took me 2 hours...

but here we go, all comes down to single loop:

Also worthy of mention here is Sheldon Brown's Scalable City - a 4k version of Katamari but with generative levels, a trackball, and a million little details that make it worthy of seeking out.

Perfect fall day downtown, except perhaps for the fact that I was @ the office.

Still, a certain majesty in walking across the street on lunch to hear chicago's finest on the decks.

so underground; the 37 other people that had also heard about it were dancing.

first nuclear waste ever

went to palos hills forest preserve for mountain biking.

best biking near the city; it's not even 45 min out - right @ archer & 95th - and it has 200' or so of elevation.
Laugh at will, those in more fractal geographies. but that's good in the midwest.

Even better, it closed a long loop of knowledge - i had been told that the original bricks from the squash court @ UoC - the first controlled chain reaction - the official start of It All - were randomly buried in some park on 95th st.

well this is that park - and more. In fact this is the site where they rebuilt the reactor after fermi's curious game of squash. As well as a dumping ground for the remains of that & other pre-Argonne experiments.

Fantastic & eerie to have such late summer idyll with historic nuclear waste just below.

next time i'm bringing a geiger counter...

had to flip the disc to run on apple ][+.

found a working copy for three dollars in madison wisconsin thrifting one morning after a party in , oh, 1997 or so

the driver was informing me how her friend's roomate & his brother (who went to my highschool 500 miles away) had been robbing banks for a while & were now in jail. This same kid got sent to principal for selling NoDoz in 5th grade. Dull and unsuprising.

unlike oo-topos.

then in 2003 @ my brother's wedding one of his friend's wives family's owned one of the banks he robbed.

creepy and mind-warping, just like oo-topos.
