snowboarding in japan. a bit.

in sapporo again for year's-end holiday; snowboarding. well - once. these pix were from the first run on my first day. should've let myself warm up or such; instead, i got a tad excited & ended up totally mangling my left knee.

so beautiful, so painful.

so i've basically been an invalid on dan's floor for past 3 days. today i can walk; a few more days perhaps - PERHAPS - i can ride again.

i'm out here for over another week. i'm hopeful. we'll see...

meanwhile i'm making an android app that measures total airtime, and getting to know my new korg emx1,  and other things i won't have time to do when i'm back home.

for this year's install in new orleans, just sent off description:
Parking lot exterior windows view_remix
Parking lot exterior windows view_remix

"people looking into the window activate the busts of philosophers, entertainers, rulers, and scientists both ancient & modern, turning the street into a living museum.

Stop by and become Mark Twain, Kanye West, Henry Ford, Jay Z, Einstein, Plato, Bill Gates, Augustus Ceasar, Jaques Derrida, Marshall McLuhan, Jaques Cousteau, Julia Child, Queen Elizabeth, Max Headroom, George Clinton, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Sun Ra, and others.

as you transform, note that Rome had no Internet, Galileo wasn't always a space probe, and, well - 115 years, all new people..."

here's the podcast tour, intro is my 7yr old niece (thanks emma!)

today was leaving work @ Aon Bldg, waiting to pay parking ticket and i did a double take - apparently walked past mayor daley in doing so

there was never a chance to say 'hey big up f#&*$ yeah!!!" 'love this city, great job' or just nod approvingly, ast they were too engrossed in (very low, muted) discussion.

but still. quite cool.

(and at least i didn't bust his balls like when soma met him @ neocon way back)

william gibson rants at undecideds on his blog:

"To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. "Can I interest you in the chicken?" she asks. "Or would you prefer the platter of shit with broken glass in it?"

To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked."
